The Social Media Director will plan, budget and direct all social media-related activities on behalf of the agency’s clients, as well as develop an internal strategic plan for the agency’s Social Media Department’s goals. Responsibilities include providing direction and guidance on all social and digital media practice areas (to include paid advertising, social media content, online content, influencers, engagement, algorithm strategy/manipulation, community management and more) that form the major social media business unit within PROFILES. The Social Media Director will work to grow the department’s business by reaching out to and retaining new clients, and pitching agency services to existing clients as necessary. From creating deadlines and timetables to setting company or team goals and setting the bar on key outcomes for clients and the agency, the Social Media Director’s strategic eye must transcend a singular vision. The ideal candidate will engineer tangible ways to scale the company’s social media business efforts while effectively collaborating with other team members and leadership to ensure every client deliverable is produced under deadline and worthy of its own “100” emoji.
A bachelor’s degree in a communications-related field (English, journalism, communications, public relations, social media, marketing, etc.)
At least 7 years of professional experience in social media marketing, digital marketing and/or interactive project management
Social media advertising experience
Experience managing accounts across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Snapchat and more
Strong writing and editing skills
Proficient in social media monitoring and aggregator tools
Proven time-management skills and experience tracking time to scale efforts
Experience developing and managing paid social media campaigns
Digital and influencer marketing expertise with digital campaigns of all sizes and proven/existing influencer and brand relationships
Proficiency with graphic design and Photoshop, Canva and/or InDesign
Experience creatively sourcing content for social media (including video or photo shoots)
Ability to manage eight (8) plus clients, each with approximately three (3) or more social media platforms, in addition to the agency’s social media channels
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the use of Apple technology (iPhone, Mac computer, Keynote)

Act as lead social media strategist, implementer of campaigns and day-to-day contact for multiple social media clients.
Develop and handle contracts for new or incoming social media clients and social media projects.
Advise clients on social media strategies, manage expectations and set goals for clients.
Identify opportunities for high-impact digital engagement campaigns.
Conceptualize and implement social campaign concepts, integrating interactive media into the overall business strategy.
Work with team to prepare and finalize content calendars to maintain regular posting schedule for each account.
Use social media management tools or software to manage multiple client account postings and automation/scheduling of published posts.
Work with team to develop internal and external “Voice” and style guideline documents for each client to ensure brand and messaging consistency across platforms.
Work with team to draft and develop content that ensures each client’s brand voice is maintained (including use of design programs and out-of-office photo shoots to source new content)
Monitor web traffic metrics to attribute social media as a top referral source.
Define metrics and performance indicators to measure the success of each client’s social media campaign; make suggestions on campaign adjustments to meet goals.
Craft and present monthly, quarterly and annual social media account performance reports for clients.
Participate in cross-departmental or cross-team strategy and meetings, as needed (e.g., if an online review is negative, consult with the crisis team; if a client is retained for PR and social, attend meeting with all).
Monitor clients’ social media platforms and respond to inquiries, SPAM, comments keeping with a 24-hour response policy.
Maintain and expand clients’ existing social media platforms while increasing engagement and effectiveness of the platforms.
Monitor agency and client social media channels outside of work hours.
Develop curriculum and training methods for occasional client social media workshops.
Develop ambassador/influencer programs on behalf of clients when retained to do so.
Develop an internal strategic plan for the company’s social media business and efforts; formulate what will be next on the division’s agenda.
Manage budget for division and share monthly internal report with leadership.
Track and report hours worked on clients, and work with the leadership team to scale and automate systems and practices.
Serve as a member of the PROFILES marketing team, leading internal social media efforts and maintaining PROFILES’ social platforms as if it is a client.
Collaborate with leadership team to develop internal and external “Voice” and style guideline documents for PROFILES to ensure brand and messaging consistency across platforms.
Advise agency on social media strategies, manage expectations and set goals for PROFILES’ social media.
Work with team to prepare and finalize content calendars to maintain regular posting schedule for PROFILES’ platforms.
Monitor PROFILES’ social media platforms and respond to inquiries, SPAM, comments keeping with a 24-hour response policy.
Craft and present monthly, quarterly and annual social media account performance reports for internal management review.
Manage social media team, including support staff and intern(s).
Create curriculum and opportunities for training support staff and interns and fellow PROFILES team members.
Maintain a pulse on the industry and provide updates to staff and clients on pertinent trends, standards and changes that may impact them.
Assist PROFILES leadership team on new business endeavors as they relate to social media including lead generation, drafting new business proposals for social media services, as well as new business presentations and meetings where social media is of interest to prospects.
