Gayle V. Economos is a career-long broadcaster who owns her own public relations business. Besides working for WBAL-TV, WJZ-TV and MPT, she coordinates the Baltimore Broadcasters Coalition for all of the TV and most of the radio stations in the market. On-air, Economos can be seen as spokesperson for a variety causes and as a Pledge Host on MPT. She received two AIR (Achievement In Radio) Awards for guest hosting the original “Marc Steiner Show” on WJHU-FM (now WYPR-FM); she was also a commentator on WBAL-TV’s “The Bottom Line with Kweisi Mfume”. Founding GVE Media/Public Relations, LLC in 1995, her marketing firm specializes in enhancing the image of nonprofits in the communities they serve. Economos has been a Lecturer and mentor in the Communication and Media Studies Department at Goucher College since 1981, the department she founded as an undergraduate. A proud American of Greek descent, Gayle is active in the Greek community and is a Mayoral appointee (past Chair) to the Baltimore-Piraeus Sister City Committee. Gayle was recently named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women of 2012 by The Maryland Daily Record, following up the same honor in 2007. The light of Gayle’s life is her daughter, Zoë, who recently graduated from college and is now gainfully employed in the Big Apple.
