Communication Specialist – Downtown Baltimore, Medifast

*The Communications Specialist supports the execution of brand strategy through Public Relations, Social Media, Purpose and other brand marketing projects as assigned. He or she will partner with cross-functional teams, key stakeholders and external agencies to meet company’s strategic goals. The Communications Specialist supports the Public Relations & Social Media Manager and provides public relations, social media, purpose and brand services to support the Medifast brands.

Responsibilities:
*Work cross functionally with internal teams and agency partners to support public relations efforts including writing and editing press materials, story mining (identifying angles and crafting a pitches), development of PR brand assets and other projects as applicable.
*Concept and manage the company’s social media brand asset library and global campaign content.
*Support the company’s philanthropic initiatives. Assist with development and execution of the program, including coordinating with nonprofit partners, supporting and planning events and developing marketing collateral.
*Initiate and manage creative requests for the brand team. Understand, follow, and support internal/external processes and procedures in areas such as communications, marketing, compliance, and creative development.
*Develop and deliver marketing content and production briefs to internal and external creatives. Development of video storylines, scripts and production schedules.
*Monitor alerts, blogs, listservs, news, competitors and Community activity. Stay abreast of trends in the health and wellness space
*Prepares creative and written materials, including marketing and/or promotional copy and design, business communications, website content, images, and Power Point presentations, and distributes appropriately etc.
*Assist in analyzing the performance of global and regional marketing campaigns by evaluating insights and identifying new opportunities. Active on social media monitoring tools and social platforms.
*Offers administrative support including scheduling, workflow, creative calendars, etc.
*Supports the Public Relations and Social Media Manager in other duties as assigned. (10%)

Qualifications:
*Excellent communication skills including written, oral, and presentation.
*Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related areas
*3-5+ years’ experience in Marketing and Communications.
*Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines consistently.
*Experience with cross-functional teams, establishes and maintains effective internal and external relationships.
*Passion for philanthropy.
*Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
*Strong organizational skills and ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
*Solves problems creatively.
*Strong initiative to achieve results.
*Positive attitude
*Attention to detail and ability to proactively provide solutions.
*Demonstrates a high level of personal accountability.
*Travel as required.
*Knowledge in InDesign, Adobe, social media analytics tools, including Hootsuite and Sprinkl is a plus.
*Knowledge of Direct Sales industry a plus.
