Dan Collins, Mercy Medical Center

A summa cum laude graduate of Loyola College with a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, Dan is the Senior Director of Media Relations at Mercy Medical Center and has served as the downtown hospital’s media liaison since 1996. He is also the Baltimore Public Relations blogger for Examiner.com.

A former full-time journalist with stints at the Washington Times, the Times Publishing Group (Towson Times, Baltimore Messenger, Jeffersonian, etc) and The Baltimore Examiner, Dan writes for a variety of online news sources, including BMoreMedia.com, oversees the Baltimore site for Broadwayworld.com, and has contributed articles to The Beacon newspaper and Woman to Woman Magazine in Howard County. Dan is also a member of the part-time faculty at Loyola University where he teaches an introductory public relations course for undergraduates.He is co-founder, secretary and public relations contact for the Chesapeake Fencing Club in Baltimore City.

A native of Baltimore, Dan has also worked in city and state government, as the Public Information Officer for the City of Thornton, CO, and as a public relations specialist for the Maryland State Highway Administration.  Dan can be reached via dcollins@mdmercy.com.
