Overview of role: There is a unique and exceptional open position to lead Microsoft’s PR in Washington, DC. The person is this role will be the chief media communications strategist and relationship manager for Microsoft in this critically important market. They will be responsible for building, leading and executing a perception change program designed to enhance our citizenship image and advance our public policy goals through creative and proactive story telling with the media and other influencers. In so doing, this person will work in close collaboration with the company’s senior leaders in Legal and Corporate Affairs (LCA), both in DC and in Redmond, to align the communications campaign with the company’s foremost business and legal objectives. This role requires proven experience in leading and managing policy and issues management PR campaigns in the DC market. This role also requires very strong collaboration skills as the person in this role will be required to work closely with colleagues, clients, and management in multiple groups and geographies within the company. The person in this role will be a member of the overall Public Affairs PR team, which is charged with managing LCA’s wide swath of business, public policy and legal issues. This role reports to the Senior PR Director for the Public Affairs team and will likely manage a mid-level PR professional in the DC office. In addition, this role has responsibility for managing a significant PR agency team and budget. A four-year college degree is required and a master’s degree is preferred. 15+ years of related work experience is also required, with a preference for experience in the DC market. Minimum requirements: 15 + years of proven PR experience focused on issues management and public affairs expertise in Washington, DC. Passion for the positive impact of technology and strong project management skills preferred.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
