| Description: | Arena Stage seeks a dynamic professional to oversee special events and community relations. The Director of Special Events and Community Relations will report to the Director of Communications. The Director of Special Events and Community Relations will be an integral part of the communications department, and will serve as the company’s internal special events expert and liaison to important stakeholders in the community. This position will be directly responsible for all events originated by the communications, community engagement, artistic development and production departments, and will support an external special events consultant on development and fundraising events heading into the opening of the Mead Center for American Theater. Separate from events, the Director of Special Events and Community Relations will form strategic marketing and audience development partnerships with local stakeholders to increase the visibility of Arena Stage’s brand and to achieve agreed upon strategic marketing goals. |
| Education: | Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in special events or related work; additional special events coursework or certification a plus. Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication; knowledge of social etiquette and protocols. Must be a creative and strategic thinker with keen negotiating skills. Attention to detail and proven ability to problem-solve are key. |
