Job Description  

The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) seeks an individual to design and implement effective strategies to increase the University’s visibility and enhance its reputation nationally, as well as regionally and locally. The candidate will be responsible for supporting media, online and print communications for the President’s and Provost’s Offices as well as selected humanities and social sciences departments.

 

The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial and creative storyteller who is successful in adapting to the changes in 21st -century communications, using social media and video features to pitch story ideas, while building relationships in electronic and print media, especially among national and D.C.-area journalists. In addition, the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned. 

Job RequirementsRequires: a Bachelor’s degree; excellent writing, editing, research, speaking and interpersonal skills; the ability to pitch and place story ideas; current knowledge of the media industry; and the ability to work collaboratively with a communications team.  Five years public relations and communications experience preferred. Web content and social marketing experience highly desirable. Position is full-time and includes full benefits package.
