Job Description
Develop, coordinate, implement, and/or administer public affairs programs directed primarily toward the media and military. Assist with planning, procedure development, and major initiative oversight. Coordinate and monitor interviews between NAVAIR program managers and local and national media outlets concerning major naval aviation
programs. Perform research on various issues and help prepare NAVAIR personnel for media contact. Make special arrangements for information exchanges, new conferences, and other public affairs events as needed. Take photographs to support communications activities and assignments. Write speeches and scripts for senior NAVAIR officers and help train them in risk management when dealing with the media to ensure that it represents the best interest of the U.S. Navy and is consistent with established company public affairs objectives and policies. Facilitate mid- and upper-level management/program teams in communicating goals by attending their meetings, making recommendations and forming communication strategies and plans for the team. Act as an internal expert, consultant, and project manager, and represents NAVAIR to external groups.
Required Skills
Bachelors Degree in mass communication, journalism, marketing, or a related writing intensive field required with minimum 8 years experience in communication, marketing or writing field.
Required Experience
More than 8 years professional experience. Management is typically the next higher level.
