Hiring: Web Communications Specialist, Academy for Educational Development (AED), Washington, DC

The AED Center for Health Communication (CHC)—one of the fastest growing centers within AED, a non-profit with a 47-year heritage—seeks your Web expertise. We need you to help us stay on the cutting edge of online communication for our domestic, health-oriented campaigns on behalf of high-profile clients.

Clients range from federal entities such as the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to private associations and foundations. Our diverse portfolio includes obesity prevention, flu vaccination, immunization, injury prevention, and many other important health issues.

You would work closely with an entrepreneurial, multi-disciplinary team to plan and implement a broad array of social marketing and other campaigns, in a position that combines technical work and project/task management.

Six years of relevant experience in planning, managing, and implementing all facets of Web communications projects and tasks, including:

  • Expertise in Web site design and strategy
  • Knowledge of Web 2.0, including blogs, RSS feeds, and social networking sites
  • Understanding of search engine optimization
  • Outstanding online writing
  • Demonstrated experience working with federal clients and government contracts
  • Demonstrated experience with project management, including expertise in creating and meeting project timelines and budgets
  • Strong knowledge of Section 508 compliance, accessibility, and usability for Web interfaces
  • Understanding of SQL, ColdFusion, JavaScript, and JAWS (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in creation of culturally sensitive communication programs and materials preferred.
